what is real what is shadow

On the bridge, behind the rail, we can just see the legs of a man and a woman. Just by looking at their legs, we can guess that they both made an effort to look good. They are obviously trying to impress each other, trying to put forward the good points about themselves. He is a little cheesy. She must be really pretty. It must be one of their first dates.

At the same time, on the right hand side is another couple. But we cannot see them we can just see their shadow on the ground. She is still and stands straight facing him, arms crossed on her chest. He is a meter apart. He does not face her and looks somewhere else.  Sometimes he turns around to face her and tries to explain. We cannot hear but can see him moving head and hands.  Then he seems to give up trying to explain.

On the lower level, at the end of the corridor, on the outside, an old woman slowly passes, then a middle age lonely man, a dog, a lonely woman with a little bag, a junkie, a teenager with an ice cream, a kid with a cigarette, a bold man with a big belly and a beard, a skinny man also with a beard but wearing a pink shirt, a policewoman, another dog, black, someone running after the dog, a pigeon chasing another pigeon, a man with long feet, a girl talking loud on the phone […] all passing from left to right…

A group of men and women are packed tightly into the sunny area shown in the photo.  They must only be in the sun.  They are all wearing nothing except swimming costumes, sunglasses and lots of sunblock. They crane their faces up to the sun.  As the position of the sun changes, so the jostling group of people inches along with it, so that they are not left in the shade. This may take a while.
