BRITT HATZIUS

Born in Peru, nationality German, based in London since ’98. In between, lived in Senegal, France, Switzerland, Germany, Britain. BA in fine art media at Chelsea College of Art followed by three years of numerous collaborations with other visual artists, performers, theatre directors, sound artists, musicians, dancers, mostly guided by a particular interest in space and location.

Projects include self-initiated temporary, site-specific exhibitions in London, Paris, Copenhagen, Germany and Morocco – mostly installations/interactive or participatory – as well as collaborations with other artists on projects such as “Contemplation Room Project” [an investigation of the contemporary urban condition with individual projects from 20 international artists] and with members of experimental theatre companies ‘rotozaza’ (rotozaza.co.uk) and ‘shunt’. Residencies and trips abroad also include Ghana, India, Cuba, Japan, Israel, Argentina.

Recently completed an MA in Photography and Urban Cultures at Goldsmiths College. Since then also engaged in academic study/research and projects related to creative community initiatives. This includes smaller local projects as well as transnational/European projects such as ‘Signs of the City’ organized by urbandialogues Berlin.

As brittski engaged in visual-sound collaborations: projections, lighting design for club nights, music events and other live performances. Working freelance as video artist, designer, photographer.
